Science

Led by Mrs MacKellar

Through building up a body of key foundational knowledge and concepts, pupils should be encouraged to recognise the power of rational explanation and develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena. They should be encouraged to understand how science can be used to explain what is occurring, predict how things will behave and analyse causes. Key scientific terminology will be introduced and knowledge will be built upon throughout the school.

Kingsdown and Ringwould Primary School is committed to ensuring that all students make progress. We support children as required in their learning, by communication, supporting, praising, challenging and building resilience. We aim to develop learners who have a thirst for knowledge and the creativity to become the scientists of tomorrow.

Science

"I especially enjoy investigations and getting to do them. I sometimes have to check if my results are strange but it is good fun." – Tom in Year 6

"I like working out things in Science and learning how things work. Sometimes it is easy but sometimes you really have to think." - Thomas in Year 6

"I love doing experiments in Science. I really enjoyed making a buzzing game in Year 4. We were given materials and told to make our own electrical game." - Harry in Year 5

"I like when we have to make things to use for our experiments – like parachutes and reshaping play dough. We used these to learn about forces." - Bailey in Year 5
